AgileConnect for dynamics

Update Instructions

Authenticating the Application

The installation for AgileConnect is separated into two parts. The first involves going into Azure and creating an Entra OAuth application to allow AgileConnect to authenticate on the client’s behalf to Microsoft. The second involves granting authorization to access the client’s Dynamics instance specifically via Microsoft Dataverse. Pay special attention to the values that are gathered along the way.

  1. Search for and click on Microsoft Entra ID
  1. On the sidebar select App registrations
  1. Select New registration
  1. Fill out the registration form and click Register
    • Name: AgileConnect
    • Select Single Tenant for Account Types
    • Leave Redirect URI blank
    • Click Register
  1. Go to the new Application Overview tab & copy down:
    • Application (client) ID
    • Directory (tenant) ID
  1. On the side-menu select Certificates & secrets
  1. Select New Client Secret and create a secret that expires in 720 days (or less based on the duration of your AgileConnect subscription)
  1. Select New Client Secret and create a secret that expires in 720 days (or less based on the duration of your AgileConnect subscription)
  1. Copy down the value of this secret.
    • If this value is lost expire the old secret and create a new one.
  2. This completes step 1, registering the app in Entra. Now we’ll need to set the user up in the Dataverse
  3. Visit https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/manage/environments
  1. Click on the name of the Production CRM
  1. Copy down the Environment URL
  1. Select Settings
  1. Expand the Users + permissions drop-down and select Application users
  1. Select New app User
  1. Fill out the New App User form
    • For App select the AgileConnect application created in Entra
    • For Business unit, select the Business unit associated with the CRM
    • For Security roles, select System Administrator
    • Click Create

Note: The Business unit is typically the subdomain of the environment URL from step 13

  •
  1. Visit https://agileconnect.agile-ed.com, click Authenticate.
    • Enter the four saved values copied down throughout this process
    • Click Submit
    •

Revoke Access/Uninstall

The AgileConnect package cannot be removed from Dynamics until all dependencies on that package have also been removed. Therefore, the uninstall steps focus solely on revoking the previous integration’s access and hiding the now nonfunctional app features such as Get-Match and Prospecting.

  1. Click on Enterprise applications
  1. Search for “Agile K-12″ and click on the application
  1. Select Properties on the sidebar
  1. Select “Delete”
  1. Get Match and Prospecting can be removed from user views. Do not delete any custom entities.
